Digital painting and traditional painting is something I've been jumping back and forth with lately. Though painting is involved in both mediums and I enjoy both immensely, I wonder if digital painting will eventually take over all painting in the future. Even if this might be a relevant question in the future, digital art/painting is nothing new. Digital art has been around since the 1960s. As the article states, "Reproaching digital art for its non-physical nature, as many critics do, would be shortsighted as the purpose of all art is to capture the creator’s message, ideas and emotions and put them on display for others, or themselves, to enjoy. As our means of communication evolves with digital technologies, one might argue that art should evolve to embrace these new materials, using tools such as computers and digitally coded information." I completely agree with this statement regarding the evolution of art and self expression as a whole. I've found I love digital painting more than traditional painting. Even so, I respect and love traditional artists and their ability to create physical pieces of art using whatever media they choose. I believe that even in the future people will still hold onto traditional art as a respected and honored form of art and self-expression for all.
