Reading Blog #1 Random Generator's

Visual literacy has been a fundamental learning tool for many. There are many ways of teaching, yet visual learning has been integrated into our heads in every way possible. Whether it be through ads or commercials, the media is constantly pushing visual literacy into us. This connects how people communicate, how we think, and how we become educated. This article has reassured me tremendously about how I learn. Having difficulty with regular teaching methods of reciting and reading I find that learning visually is what helps me retain knowledge the best. I had no idea that visual literacy was parallel to verbal language. There have been times when I would link some visuals to others that are completely different yet they communicate the same message. There hasn’t been a day in my life where I wasn’t learning with technology or some sort of visuals since being born in 2003. Most information being taught by people who did not have the same technology when they were younger creates that barrier of communication in a sense. Now that these new teaching methods are being considered, communication has become easier. Not only does it enhance critical thinking, but forces you to reconstruct the information you're taking in. Reconstructing Meaning is “The ability to visualize and verbally reconstruct the meaning of a visual message solely on the evidence of given information which is incomplete.” This article has taught me a lot about how information is being reconstructed, communicated, and digested. I believe that this teaching style is exactly what we need to move into as an education system to keep up with how people are learning.
